B1G1X – WHEN THE COMMUNITY STARTS DRIVING ITS OWN MISSION

You may have heard of TEDx, events that branched out from the renowned TED talks and its community.

TEDx events run independently, curated by people who believe in the mission of TED. Now, TEDx events are accessible by people in almost every city and country, growing with amazing traction.

Two B1G1 members recently came up with an idea:

What if B1G1 can inspire more businesses just like TED does, through initiatives run by the business community that believe in a common mission and vision?

Steve Pipe and Aynsley Damery have both been B1G1 Lifetime Partners for years. They have collectively created more than 4 million giving impacts through their own giving, and the businesses they introduced to B1G1 have created more than 9 million giving impacts collectively.

In the eyes of B1G1 partners like them, the value of ‘effective giving’ to their businesses is immense. They experience and embody the spirit of giving in all they do.

But they felt a greater ambition to spread the word. After all, giving through B1G1 is something that every business can and should do easily.

Thus, they set out to host the very first B1G1x web events, completely independently organised from B1G1 (although our team did tune in).

The results were…..amazing.

B1G1X FOR B1G1 MEMBERS

Steve and Aysnley shared their own experience being a B1G1 member. They shared about their initial challenges, exactly how they use B1G1 in their businesses to give in creative ways, as well as the real values and benefits that giving has given their business.

B1G1X FOR NON-MEMBERS

In the past, there were so many business people who liked the idea of B1G1, but they didn’t feel they were ready to join just yet. Perhaps, many of them had pending questions.

Although the B1G1 site contains lots of information, it was even more special to hear it from from real business owners just like yourself. To understand the value that they really experience.

MEMBER MEET-UPS

Other than online web events, B1G1 members and partners from around the world have found themselves gravitating together. Various members have self-organised B1G1 meet-ups for B1G1 businesses located in the same area – to attend inspiring events together such as the launch of ThankYou in Gold Coast, or to simply discuss ideas over breakfast together.

SO…WHAT’S NEXT?

These web meetings and member gatherings show us that ideas and perspectives curated by the community has the powerful potential to reach a much wider audience.

We hope to see more events like this happening as we work with many more business leaders who live and breathe the ethos of Giving Businesses.
