Born from One Spark, Growing into a Flame
In 2012, Sarah Brook experienced something transformative, and The Sparkle Foundation was born.
Sparkle Foundation’s journey started with education, helping children in Zomba access learning opportunities and dream of brighter futures. But soon, the team discovered that many students were too hungry to stay awake in class. That simple but powerful realization led to the creation of a feeding program, ensuring that no child learns on an empty stomach.
Then came another turning point. The team faced the heartbreaking loss of children to preventable diseases — and so Sparkle’s medical program was born. Today, their clinic provides free healthcare and medication to those who need it most, serving as the only facility of its kind in the area.
From education and nutrition to healthcare and community outreach, Sparkle Foundation developed a holistic model of care — one that now supports 500 children daily and continues to empower families across rural Malawi.
Over the years, Sparkle’s work has grown in both scope and depth. The organization has opened a second site for an additional 100 children, launched a Sparkle Farm to improve food security and create employment, and expanded its outreach to more villages.
Each initiative builds toward a shared goal: creating sustainable, locally driven change that allows communities to thrive independently. With each milestone, the impact multiplies — and the light of hope grows brighter.

The “Nurses on Bikes” program reaches remote mountainous areas where access is most limited. Using bicycles or motorbikes equipped for rough terrain, nurses deliver care directly in villages, reducing transport costs, saving time, and easing pressure on central hospitals.
The project is simple yet powerful, using low-cost transport to overcome barriers of distance and poverty. Sparkle Clinic has already transformed health outcomes, and this extension will bring life-saving care to even the most isolated families.
Illuminating Possibility: Solar Power for Families
In Malawi more than 80% of families live in darkness once the sun sets. This project brings affordable solar panels to homes without electricity, lighting up lives and unlocking opportunity. With women already trained to install the systems, your support provides clean energy so children can study after dark, families can work safely, and entire villages can move from darkness to light.
