THREE MEANINGFUL WORTHY CAUSES SHAPING THE ANIMAL WELFARE LANDSCAPE

Staggeringly, there are now over 2.16 million animal species that are also part of our world.

So just for a moment, imagine a world where every creature, big or small, furry or feathery, is cherished and protected. That's the dream we're working towards at B1G1, and we're thrilled to share three remarkable causes that are making this dream a reality.

Wildlife Warriors

Wildlife Warriors has been defending the world’s most threatened animal species for over two decades. Founded by the legendary Steve Irwin and his wife Terri, they've been champions for our planet's most vulnerable species for over 20 incredible years.

From adorable koala joeys to majestic crocodiles, they're on the front lines, ensuring these precious animals thrive in their natural habitats. And guess what? You can join their mission too! From feeding orphaned koalas to tracking saltwater crocodiles, every action counts!

Headquartered in Queensland, B1G1 Members have made over 65,000 impacts possible across four projects since Wildlife Warriors became a B1G1 Worthy Cause in 2019.

As a B1G1 Worthy Cause, Wildlife Warriors manages two projects aimed at protecting koalas. They spearhead efforts to rescue baby koalas and kangaroos that were abandoned in the wild. Or they treat adult marsupials who have been injured due to wildfires or hunting.

Edgar's Mission

It’s not just wildlife that needs looking after though. In many cases, animals like chickens and cows need rescuing after being subjected to over breeding or inhumane farming practices.

Picture a sanctuary nestled in the heart of Victoria, Australia, where rescued farm animals roam free, safe from harm. It's a haven of compassion, where chickens cluck joyfully and cows graze peacefully. Since 2011, Edgar’s Mission has rescued and cared for over 400 animals, with every hay meal and cozy shelter making a world of difference.

In addition to providing a safe haven, you can find this Victoria-based non-profit advocating on behalf of these creatures through education, advocacy, community enrichment, and sanctuary tours.

Edgar’s Mission became affiliated with B1G1 back in 2011. And in over a decade, B1G1 Members have made 122,621 impacts possible for the organization (and counting).  A wonderful thing for its 400 rescued residents.

Like Wildlife Warriors. Edgar’s Mission also manages four projects under B1G1. Each of these projects is aimed at providing much-needed care and rehabilitation to all fluffy and furry animals under their care.

Visakha Society for Protection and Care of Animals

Meanwhile, in India, another Worthy Cause has taken on the mantle of protecting hundreds of dogs.

The Visakha Society for Protection and Care of Animals (VSPCA) was established in 1996 to improve the conditions of animals big and small in the country. They're the unsung heroes of the streets, tirelessly working to improve the lives of stray dogs and sea creatures alike.

With over 80,000 street dogs spayed and neutered, and 1,300 rescued animals finding refuge in their sanctuary, their impact is nothing short of extraordinary. And they're not stopping there—by vaccinating dogs against rabies and spreading awareness about animal protection, they're paving the way for a brighter, safer future for all.

All this wonderful work is also reflected in the projects that the VSPCA is managing under B1G1. Members have created over 37,000 impacts across seven different projects.

In addition to providing care for canines, you’d be happy to know that the VSPCA is rescuing sea creatures too!  Two of the projects the organization manages under B1G1 supports sea turtle hatchlings and reef sharks.

Make a Difference in the Lives of Animals Around

Making a positive impact in the lives of animals globally is not just an act of kindness; it's a responsibility we owe to the planet we share. From endangered species facing extinction to animals suffering from cruelty and neglect, there are countless ways individuals and organizations can contribute to safeguarding the welfare of animals worldwide.

But the magic doesn't stop here! Whether it's happy hens in Victoria or playful pups in India, you can make a difference.

Every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to change lives and shape a better world for animals everywhere. Together, let's make waves of compassion, one paw print at a time.
