THIS SANCTUARY GIVES A MUCH-NEEDED VOICE TO FARM ANIMALS
Animal rescues and shelters are vital for pets without homes, and these facilities are usually just for dogs and cats. But there are a lot of other animals out there in need of love and kindness. Edgar’s Mission helps fill that void.
Pam Ahern has dedicated more than a decade of her life to providing farm animals with food, medication and shelter after caring for one special pet, ‘Edgar Alan Pig‘.
For all intensive purposes Edgar and my [dog] E.T. were the exact same except one stark reality that they looked a little bit different”
Pam didn’t understand why Edgar and E.T. were treated differently, so she made it her mission to give all farm animals a voice. Now, about an hour outside of Melbourne, Australia, Edgar’s Mission houses more than 450 farm animals, provides people with the opportunity to meet and learn about them, and then as Pam says, “[they] can decide for themselves how they think farm animals should really live.”
There are high costs associated with running a home like this, and Edgar’s Mission relies on private contributions to provide ample food, shelter and medication for the animals.
But a little goes a long way, and the team is so grateful for any support they can get. “I really, really, I am just so grateful everyday that we can do these things and it’s only possible because of people supporting our work so thank you guys so much,” Pam tells B1G1.
Edgar's Mission is just one of more than 800 high-impact projects around the world that B1G1 businesses support.
